Astri Tonoian was born in 1984 in Leninakan, Armenia. She has lived in Norway since 1990. Astri grew up in an artist family. She learned a lot of her parents who both are artists (mother, Lena Akopian - graphic artist, and father Ashot Tonoian - sculptor). Art has been a big part of her life and she decided to continue with her talent of art. She entered at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2003 when she was 18 years old. And finished bachelor in fine art in 2006.

1993 - 1994 Gjøvik Art school for children
2000 - 2003 Aassiden VGS i Drammen (High school)
2003 - 2006 Bachelor, fine art at KHIO (Oslo National Academy of the Arts) section of metal.
(The metals programme covers subjects ranging from jewellery and objects to large-scale site-spesific projects.)
2005-2006 one semester at The Fine Art Accademy in Florence, Italy
2006- Master studies at KHIO (graduated - spring 2009)
Exibitions:
Astris first participation at an exibition was at the regional art sociaty Novemberexibition in Drammen Museum (2001) where she sold a sculpture at the age of 17. She also participated in 2002.

Art experience:
Astri Tonoian works mostly with sculpture og and jewlery. She likes to work with all kinds of materials, like: metal, epoxy, clay, plaster, wood... has also done graphic art with traditional tekniks (etching, aquatint and lino) and modern computer art.
The young art student also works in two art galleries:
* The Artistsenter in Buskerud, in Drammen
* Galleri Nobel in Oslo
